1 cup unsifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup margarine or butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
Method
Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, set aside. Stir sugar into margarine in a
large bowl.
Beat well with a spoon or a beater. Add vanilla, egg, and water. Beat
until fluffy with a spoon or a beater. Add flour mixture and milk.
Mix until
smooth.
Fill a greased, floured baking pan half full. Bake at 375° about 25 minutes until
cake springs back when lightly touched near center
